Conference Session: Reentry in the Context of Transitioning to Adulthood
February 24: 1:45 - 3:15 p.m.

Beyond helping youth adjust to life outside of a residential or institutional placement, the supports and services youth receive in reentry should help them develop a sense of permanency in their lives, a strong set of connections to pro-social adults and peers, and a sense of belonging to their community. This session described the permanency approach, which has been adopted in child welfare to ensure that youth in foster care who are not reunited with their families or adopted transition into adulthood. Building on that body or work, it explored its potential in application to juvenile reentry.
