Implementing a comprehensive approach to assessing risk and criminogenic needs requires a thorough understanding of the process — including how and when different types of information should be used. Ideally, this information is updated periodically throughout the person’s incarceration and period of community supervision, and is used to make informed decisions about how to manage risk, deliver services, treat the individual, and allocate resources efficiently. The speakers facilitated a discussion among grantees about implementing risk/needs assessments and provided a forum to problem-solve different barriers that many organizations face when implementing a new assessment process. |
