Making Second Chances Work: A Conference for Grantees Committed to Successful Reentry, May 26-27, 2010

Conference Session: Keynote: The Importance of Making Second Chances Work
5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.

The impact of the Second Chance Act will be far reaching, as each project works to interrupt the costly cycle of victimization and improve safety for communities and families. Each Second Chance Act grant provides the receiving agency an opportunity to increase public safety by enhancing a person’s transition back into the community. An effective reentry program can be one of the strongest indications that the criminal justice system is working to protect victims and strengthen the community. The speaker, Suzanne Brown-McBride, discussed the important role that Second Chance Act grantees can play in protecting communities and families by achieving improved outcomes for recently released individuals.

Speaker:

  • Suzanne Brown-McBride, Deputy Director, Council of State Governments Justice Center
