Correctional Population in the United States, 2010

This publication, from the Bureau of Justice Statistics, U.S. Department of Justice, presents data on the number of offenders under the supervision of adult correctional authorities—including prisons, jails, and community corrections agencies—in the United States at year-end 2010. The report provides the change in the total correctional population (by correctional status) over the course of 2010. It also examines the impact of the changes in the community supervision and incarcerated populations during the year on the change observed in the nation's correctional population.
