The Transition from Jail to Community Initiative

An estimated 12 million people are released from local jails each year. In an effort to improve jail to community transition and enhance public safety outcomes, the National Institute of Corrections (NIC) and the Urban Institute (UI) launched the Transition from Jail to Community (TJC) initiative. TJC involves the development, implementation, and evaluation of a model for jail to community transition.
